Science and Heritage Diplomacy in the South

K-AIM 2026 invites theoretical and empirical contributions interrogating the intersection of scientific innovation, cultural preservation, and international relations within the Global South. This symposium seeks to conceptualise new frameworks for cross-cultural exchange, emphasising transnational development cooperation, biodiversity conservation, and decolonisation efforts.
Thematic Areas
The Organising Committee invites original, theoretical, and empirical contributions that address, but are not strictly limited to, the following dimensions:
- Ethical Frameworks in AI: Navigating the asymmetrical power dynamics of algorithmic governance, digital knowledge representation, and data sovereignty.
- Decolonisation of Institutions: Methodological approaches to decolonising museum curation and empowering indigenous narratives and epistemologies.
- Technological Interventions in Heritage: The ethical utilisation of artificial intelligence and digital curation to safeguard cultural memory and represent indigenous heritage.
- Science Diplomacy: The instrumentality of heritage and scientific exchange in strengthening transnational networks, with specific attention to inter-regional relations.
- Heritage Diplomacy: Strategies for cultural cooperation, museum development, and the transnational exchange of tangible and intangible heritage.
Submission Guidelines: Submit a robust academic abstract (300–500 words) detailing your theoretical framework, methodology, and preliminary arguments by 15 September 2026.
